Welcome, Welcome!
Hello and welcome!
How did I get here? Well, 14 or 15 years ago I discovered the paleo diet and way of thinking. The more I read about the chemicals and junk that goes into our food, I wanted to eat less of it. I wanted to live a clean lifestyle. I worked out regularly, my husband and I ate a paleo diet and I saw positive changes in how I felt and looked. I do remember thinking, wow, I’ll never eat another M&M. I did eventually eat them again. And all of the other processed foods. It was easier. But was it really worth it?Over the years and 4 children later, we tried to eat healthy. We tried not to buy all of the processed foods but we weren’t very successful. I was still interested in living a cleaner lifestyle and wanting to do better for my family. I followed a few people on social media, worked with some incredible practitioners who helped me heal. And I knew I wanted more. I wanted to greatly reduce the toxins in our life. I wanted the knowledge and the education and to be able to speak on topics that mattered to me. I wanted to dive in but wasn’t sure how to get started.
In the summer of 2023 my son Nathan started having big meltdowns. Not a temper tantrum but BIG meltdowns of screaming uncontrollably, hitting himself, falling to the ground and refusing to move. What was going on? I reached out to someone I knew could help me, an FNTP whom I had worked with previously. She suggested we start with eliminating food dyes and then gluten. We saw a big change in behavior when we eliminated the food dyes in foods. It’s not an easy thing to do. Especially starting the week of Halloween with children! But we held the line. A short time later Nathan started having seizures. At first, I wasn’t sure it was a seizure. It wasn’t like what you see on TV. They were short and always right after he fell asleep. Do seizures only happen once a day at the same time of day or was this a sleep disorder. We were in Legoland, having breakfast and he had a seizure. I’ll spare you all the details on how we were dismissed from 2 Emergency Rooms, everyone telling us he was fine and to follow up with a neurologist. No. No. No. Mamas, listen to your gut!!! He wasn’t fine and we refused to leave. He went from a short seizure at bedtime to 30 seizures a day! We tried several medications. Doctors couldn’t tell us why he was having these seizures. So again, I immediately reached out to my FNTP friends. We immediately started healing his gut, looking at toxin testing, Lyme co-infections, anything that could be contributing. And he stopped having seizures. Could it have been the medication finally working? Sure. But was it more likely addressing his gut health, his digestion, and working to rid his body of everyday toxins? A combination? I guess there’s no way to know for sure but I will always believe healing his gut and improving his digestion is what worked.
Back up to summer of 2023. I was feeling the pull to do more for our family. I’m a stay at home mom to four wonderful boys and we are a homeschool family. I needed to understand nutrition more. I wanted to learn more about the everyday toxins, how to eliminate what we could and how to supplement our bodies when we needed help. I looked into the Nutritional Therapy Association. I was hooked! I attended a live webinar and signed up for class starting in a few weeks! Thankfully I was already in the NTA class when everything happened with Nathan. I was already learning so much and knew they would provide the knowledge and experience to help my family, and yours! I graduated from the NTA in September of 2024. I was busy getting the boys school started, feeling lost on how to start a business and what to do next. I asked someone whom I have followed on social media who is AMAZING in everything she does, what’s my next course? How do I learn more so I can help more? She recommend the Restorative Wellness Solutions. So I talked to a colleague who had recently completed the course and she only had great things to say about them. So I signed up. Hands down, best decision!
Well I really thought this blog post would be an introduction to who I am and what I do. I guess I took the long way to say, Welcome, I’m glad you’re here!
I am a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (NTP) and a Restorative Wellness Practitioner (RWP). What does that mean? Well it means I look at food as medicine. I know that gut health is a priority that is often overlooked. I know that a nutrient dense diet, stress management and good sleep hygiene make a world of difference in making your body function optimally.
I want to help people heal their gut, improve their digestion, work on sleep hygiene and feel their absolute best! So that’s how it started and I can’t wait to see where it all goes!
